We photographed a wedding recently in the far southwest corner of Topeka. It was a small wonderful intimate wedding. As we were getting ready to do the formal photography my wife, Diane asked where the flowers were? The wedding party had told Porterfield’s that someone would pick up the flowers at the florist shop since someone would be in town anyway. In the hustle and bustle of the day though, the person that was to pick up the flowers forgot all about them. As a matter of fact the person that had been assigned that duty was completely dressed already for the wedding. Nonetheless, preparations were begun to go after the flowers. The challenge though would have been that it would have taken at least 40 minutes round trip!
While everyone was figuring out what they were going to do I quietly went into another room and called Porterfields Florist to see if by chance they had anyone that could leave the shop. David Porterfield answered the phone and I told him what had happened. David said ” we were wondering what was going on”. I then let David talk to the Bride’s mom and David immediately started a person to the wedding with the flowers.
Lee from Porterfields arrived as quickly as he could and he was just as nice and friendly, not in anyway upset or hurried. You can see from the image of Lee carrying in the flowers his expression, just happy everything was able to be worked out.
Topeka is fortunate to have a lot of great wedding vendors to choose from. One of the things we do for our couples at Harrington’s is to offer suggestions who we think can best meet each couples needs when asked. Let’s be honest if we are your photographer we want your day to go as smoothly as possible. The happier the bride the happier everyone is!
